Surviving the Two-Week Wait

The Two-Week Wait, or “TWW”, is the 14-day interval between ovulation and when your period usually occurs. When you’re struggling to conceive, it’s normal to experience feelings of overwhelm, fear, anxiety, sadness and even anger during this time. So, here are my 5 top tips for surviving the TWW!

Are you tired of taking multiple pregnancy tests before it’s too early to even tell?

1.Educate yourself

“The unknown” can cause a lot of stress and anxiety. Learning about what parts of your fertility journey ARE in your control, and what symptoms are ‘normal’ and to be expected, can help to ease some of these uncomfortable feelings.

2. Keep busy

The “waiting” part might cause you to obsess over things. Including taking 100 pregnancy tests! Make sure you make time for other projects, like connecting with your partner on a fun date, diving into a novel, you enjoy, or taking up a creative hobby that takes your fancy (pottery, anyone?).

3. Reach out for support

TTC Communities are here for a reason! Fellow ‘TWWers’ will be the most reliable people to lean on during this time, as they’re going through the same thing. Facebook groups like Pink Elephant Preconception offer a supportive environment for women who are TTC after loss.

4. Self compassion

Be kind and gentle with yourself. If you’ve been trying to fall pregnant for awhile, you might dread all of the waiting. It’s okay to feel frustrated, but remind yourself that the feeling will pass, and won’t last forever.

5. Stress management techniques

Sitting still and meditating isn’t for everyone (myself included!). But why not try a mindful mandala colouring-in page, gardening (my preferred choice) or gentle exercise that is pregnancy friendly, like walking, pliates or yoga.

I hope you find these tips helpful, and feel free to share them with a fellow TTCer!

Did you know I’m releasing my first e-Guide this coming week? It’s called, Supporting Implantation: During the TWW, and will be ready for purchase super soon!

With love, Corinne - The Gentle Naturopath.
